Getting ready for our baby boy's first Christmas.

Our boy's first Christmas is less than two months away and we are so excited! Of course we understand that he will never remember anything....but we will!!

The most wonderful time of the year is going to be even more wonderful now that we are parents. We were able to make family traditions with our parents and siblings in our younger years and now we can start some with our own little family of three.

Everyone in my family cannot wait, they have been waiting for a baby in the family for ever just so they can dress up like Santa and see the delight (or fear) in Camden's face. They will unfortunately have to wait until Christmas 2015 to do that as this year Cam is still way to young to understand any of it.

As a new family we want to teach Camden good values. We want him to be thankful, grateful, giving and of course we want him to understand the real reason we celebrate Christmas.

Wayne and I decided from our first Christmas together that we don't exchange gifts on Christmas, just being together on this day is good enough for us.

We usually purchase gifts for each family member but this year everyone has decided to go with the "secret Santa" gift idea, not only is this way easier for me when it comes to shopping and deciding what to get each person, it is also pocket friendly lol.

With Camden as the new addition to our family we now have him to buy gifts for. As tempting as it is to spoil him I have already asked my family to please not go overboard and spoil him rotten. If we spoil him from a young age, as he grows up he will expect to get everything he wants and that isn't how we are going to teach him gratitude. I would also like him in the future when he understands more, to be able to focus on each gift he receives and not get too overwhelmed that he forgets to appreciate the gifts he receives.

Some families base their gifts for their children on the following: Each child gets four gifts - Something you want. Something you need. Something to wear. Something to read.

I just love this idea....don't you?

I have so many memories of Christmas each year since I was a little girl.I now sit back and think of what traditions I want to do with my little family. Some traditions will probably be the same and we may take on some traditions from Wayne's childhood and we will definitely make some new ones.

Obviously, whatever we do with our not-so-one-year-old boy this Christmas isn’t what we will do every year going forward as he will understand more as each year goes by, but this is a good time in our life to start thinking about what Christmas might mean for us as a family of three.

Always remember...the true meaning of Christmas is Love...we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ...we cannot wait to teach Camden the true meaning of Christmas.
