Fairview Wine & Cheese Farm

Situated in the beautiful Paarl area, Fairview Wine & Cheese Farm have an amazing restaurant that serves some of the best food I have ever tasted.

Yesterday, Sunday the 27 of September we headed to Fairview to celebrate my cousin Jade's birthday. Wayne unfortunately had flown that morning to Durban on a week long business trip so it was just Camden and I who joined the rest of my family. We sure missed him, attending family functions or doing things without him just isn't the same.

Camden is very mobile, well he has been since around 11 months of age but at this moment he is running everywhere and taking him to a restaurant and trying to get him to sit still is a massive challenge. We all had our turn and we all had our hands full.

We took him to feed the goats and see the fish in the pond. He of course wanted to climb in to swim with the fish and cried when we explained that he couldn't. When feeding the goats he also tried to put his entire hand in the goats mouth. This child is fearless!

It was a great afternoon with good food and loads of laughs, as always when the family is all together.

After I had eaten and Camden had eaten off everyone's plate, it was time to get Camden home as he had become extremely restless and couldn't understand why we didn't want him to run around the restaurant. This poor child has ants in his pants and we tend to forget he isn't an adult that can sit still for hours, he is a toddler who wants to explore and be on the move and I can't blame him...he has an inquiring mind.

Camden had a great time outdoors and this is what is important to us,  that he gets to explore and have fun. We were on the road for all of 2 minutes and he was passed out cold. Too much excitement for him in one day.

It was a great day with family as always.

Seapoint promenade family fun.

Heritage day, a day where South Africans across the spectrum are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs to all its people...

This heritage day we took Camden to the Seapoint promenade and there we let him celebrate by running around and doing as he pleased. Camden loves exploring and just being left alone to do as he pleases, he gets a serious kick out of feeling "free".

He was running up to random strangers and making faces or funny noises. People were so amused by our little performer, marching along the promenade and pointing at each every single lamp post that we passed.

He of course tried to play with the big kids on the jungle gym but we as his parents understand that Camden vs. a 6 year old, Camden will definitely come off second best and possibly end up crying so we tried to steer him clear of getting in the way of the older children. He has yet to figure out that he isn't as big as the older kids and I am afraid that it is going to take more scratches and split eyebrows before he figures this out or perhaps not.

He is one tough little guy with absolutely zero fear.

Another gorgeous outdoor day spent together and more memories made.

Visiting "The Mitchells"

Sunday was another gorgeous day in the Mother City and we had arranged to pop in to visit my bestie Tatum and her family before we had to head to Sunday lunch with my family for my brothers birthday.

When we got there the boys, Liam and Aiden (My best friend Tatum has two boys) were swimming and Mitchell (we call him Mitchell because his first name is also Wayne so to avoid confusion with both of our men) had put the fire on to braai. You cannot pass up an opportunity to braai when the weather is good in Cape Town.

Camden had an absolute ball running around on the grass with the boys and he found them most entertaining. It was so awesome to see how much they care about Cam and how interested they are in him. For Cam it is like having two big brothers to play with when the boys are around.

It was an awesome visit!

We love getting to spend time with my best friend and her family and we cannot wait to take the boys camping sometime in the future.

Tables Ntida {Kerry's Birthday Celebration}

Saturday past we headed to Tables, a Cafe style restaurant on the Ntida Wine Farm in Durbanville, this little gem has really great food and is child friendly too.

We went to celebrate Kerry's birthday. Kerry is a really special friend of mine that I have known since High School. We weren't the best of friends in school but our paths crossed again after school and when Kerry returned from living in Johannesburg we starting spending a lot more time together and our friendship sure blossomed. Kerry will be standing next to me on my wedding day, enough said!

We were supposed to bring Camden along as the invite was for kids as well but Camden was still fast asleep by the time we wanted to leave so instead of waking him up (because we all know how that would end) we decided to ask Grandma if she wouldn't mind watching him while we had an afternoon out.

When we got to the restaurant we were the first to arrive, cant say that, that has happened in a long time but it was possibly due to the fact that everyone else coming to the birthday lunch were coming with their children and we were childless and early for once.

Wayne and I decided to order a bottle of Sauvignon blanc and chatted while we waited for the rest to arrive. It sure is nice to have time out with Wayne where we get to spend quality time with friends. We don't get to do this very often as we are always busy.

Uncle Wayne got to hold and feed Baby Gabriel. He is just the cutest little thing. Kerry had Gabriel in June so he will be 13 weeks this week. Such a little blessing.

The weather was great, the food was divine and the company was even better. It was a great afternoon!

The drive home after a few glasses of wine was rather entertaining...I sure love my baby daddy!

Outdoor family fun

The weather in Cape Town this weekend was sure showing off. Twenty Seven degrees, so much traffic everywhere due to every Capetonian family trying to get to the beach and seeing happy faces and smiles all around! There really is nothing better than summer, it lifts your spirits!

After our Saturday gym session, Wayne and I decided to take Camden to the Sea Point promenade to run around on the grass. He has so much energy at home and he absolutely loves being outdoors but because we have had a really cold winter we have been stuck inside quite a bit so what a perfect day to take advantage and get our champ outside in the sun for some family fun.

We stopped off at the Cape Quarter Spar to get some lunch and snacks, they make the best salads at their salad bar, I am addicted so if we are going that side of the world then I have to stop for a salad. Once we had our goodies we were off to get Camden's bare feet on the grass.

The minute we got out the car, Camden was glued to Wayne. He didn't want to be put down, only wanted to be in Wayne's arms and when we reached the grass patch where we were going to picnic, chill and let Camden run around, he decided he only wanted to use Wayne as his jungle gym and that is where he stayed.

Wayne and Camden share such an amazing bond and it was so awesome to be on the other end of the camera getting to catch it.

We had a good few laughs and some great QT with our little man.

It was so good to be outdoors!
