Poolside bliss

After an amazing surprise weekend away for Wayne's birthday, we arrived home and were super excited to see Camden. We had really missed our little champ. Two days away from our little guy seemed like a lifetime.

We decided to chill for the day by our pool and spend quality family time. Camden absolutely LOVES the water and the weather in Cape Town of late has been really amazing. Lots of family poolside and beach fun.

Camden is a busy child, he has kept us on our toes since the day he started walking, which was around 7 months ago. Let's just say it has been a busy 7 months. He loves to explore and touch/play with everything. I pulled out his baby pool that my aunt and uncle bought for him last Christmas, he had only made use of it twice last year and I thought it would be a great opportunity to take it out now and let him splash around in it.

I blew the pool up and put the hosepipe on to fill it. Camden of course wanted the hosepipe and he wanted to fill the pool. When he stepped inside his tiny pool, we realised that this child of ours no longer fitted in it, our little giant had outgrown it. He was too tall and was not able to stand up straight in it due to the sunshade that forms part of the blow up pool.

That didn't seem to bother him though. He went about his business playing with the hose and messing about in his tiny pool. Watering more of the grass than actually filling his pool with water. Our little Dora the Explora, Camden has such an inquiring mind and wants to figure out how everything works.

Smile for the camera Camden
Of course when Wayne got into the big pool, Camden got a bit sidetracked. He always wants to do what we are doing and dare we do anything without him. We can't even eat without him wanting to eat our food. If mommy and daddy are doing it, he wants to do it too.

I got him dressed into his little Speedo costume my mom bought for him to swim in and layered him full of sunscreen. He didn't immediately jump in to the big pool with Wayne like we assumed he would. He carried on playing for a bit in his pool until he lost slight interest and realised being in the big pool with dad might just be way more fun.

He jumped into Wayne's arms and then when Wayne put him back out the big pool onto the bricks, he would run and dive into his tiny pool. This carried on for some time, we all laughed and he thought he was putting on a show for us because he seemed to be trying to impress up with his diving skills, the one time he dived right over his tiny pool and onto the grass. He is such a clown. He laughs at himself which I absolutely adore.

We love the fact that Camden loves the water so much. He really loves being outdoors. We just have to watch him closely as he just wants to jump in the pool the minute he steps his foot out of the back sliding door. He really has no fear this child.

He is fascinated with the hosepipe, when I wash my car he wants to hold the hose for me or even hold it with me to spray the water on the car.

He had such a blast with us outside by the pool and then when we called it a day all hell broke loose. Camden was obviously not finished playing and the minute we took the hose away he started screaming and crying. He was so upset with us. Bath time was no fun.

We are glad that he had that much fun that he wasn't ready for it to end.

Plenty more of these days to come this summer.
