Much to my mother's dismay, we made the leap and took Camden for his first haircut.
I can't say it was too difficult for us to make the decision to cut his hair as his hair never reached that stage of curly lock bliss. His hair was just wavy and started to grow over his ears and just became unmanageable and always looked a right mess.Kinda like a mullet, business in the front, party at the back.
I was a little bit stressed as to who would be able to cut Camden's hair as he does not sit still for a second and I had visions of us arriving home with a huge chunk of his hair missing or only half of his hair cut. I googled a few kiddies hair salons or hairdressers who specialised in cutting busy kiddies hair and I came across, KidStation.

It is a rather cute concept. They have a whole range of services and one of them being: Baby's first hair cut and photo, so you get to commemorate your babies first ever hair cut with a certificate of bravery, a precious lock of hair and a keepsake photo which they take after the hair cut.
I booked an appointment for Saturday the 24th of October and we opted for the Baby's first cut special, after all it was his first hair cut and something that needs to be kept in the memory bank.
When we arrived the salon was full of kiddies getting their hair cut and there was also a party happening in the one room. FYI they host parties too. I was amazed to see some kids sleeping while their hair was being cut...that would NEVER be Camden, let me repeat that, that would NEVER be Camden!
While we waited, Camden amused himself with the toys they had laying around in the salon. He was particularly obsessed with an old telephone they had and as you can see pictured below, the conversation happening was intense, LOL!
When it was his turn, he started off so well. He was very inquisitive and every time Paula brought the spray bottle or scissors close to his head he would turn to look at what she was doing. He never watched the movie for one second, like we thought, instead he was bashing toys and moving around but Paula just worked around him.
After, I would say about a minute he started to moan and wanted to get off Wayne's lap. Camden absolutely hates being restrained so the next best thing to try keep him still for a few moments longer was to feed him sweets, yes don't judge I am sure sometime in your child's life you have done this...LOL, desperate times calls for desperate measures.
Four mini marshmallow cones later and just like that, our baby became a boy!
They took photo's of Camden and printed out his certificate for us to take home with his lock of hair.
His hairstyle didn't quite turn out the way we had wanted it to but that is because we wanted him to have a longer fringe but that has to unfortunately grow still so I reckon by next year he will be sporting the look we are going for.
We are proud of our champ for behaving better than we expected.
