Crumbs & Cream

Just outside of the aquarium as luck would have it there was a Crumbs & Cream food truck.

I have been telling Wayne about these ice-cream sandwiches that everyone has been raving about and I just had to pop my Crumbs & Cream cherry!

There was a queue of people waiting to be served and poor Camden was practically drooling and at one point started to cry while pointing at a cookie that eventually I had to just ask the guy if I could please take a cookie for him and pay for it when I placed my order as he hasn't quite grasped the concept of patience.

I ordered a scoop of their caramel crunch gelato sandwiched between one of their red velvet cookies and a choc chip cookie. They have a few different cookies and different flavour gelto to choose from so the combinations are endless!

Right next to the C&C Food truck is a kiddies jungle gym...clever C&C, very clever, I am loving your thinking.

Camden played while he ate his cookie and I watched from the bench on the side that I sat on while enjoying my first experience of my Crumbs & Cream sandwich....well trying to enjoy it inbetween Camden saying "Ahhh" with his mouth wide open as he wanted my gelato. I don't blame him,it was amazing.

I highly recommend you try it if you haven't already!

Our journey through the Two Oceans Aquarium

This weekend we decided to immerse Camden in the wonders of the ocean by taking him to his very first visit to the Aquarium.

With it being winter and like I mentioned in my previous post it has become increasingly difficult to keep a busy toddler occupied over the weekends, so we have been finding things for us to do indoors so even if the weather isn't playing nice we still get to have fun!

It just so happened that we decided on the aquarium and low and behold as Murphy would have it the weather was showing off again in Cape Town, no rain just sunshine...but we stuck to our aquarium plans.

Camden is very loud and expressive, most things excite him and even though I had seen his reaction to small fish in a tank at the petshop I was still unsure as to how he would react while being at the aquarium.

We were immediately welcomed by these beautiful exhibits as we walked in and just as I should have expected, he was jumping up and down pointing out the fish to everyone standing around the tanks shouting "Fith fith fith". I so wish I had caught it all on video. Most people these days point, smile or even laugh at Camden's excitement when we are out, they think it is too cute.

After a few minutes at the first exhibits he was off running to the clownfish. He was so excited to crawl into the tank and join Nemo in his world but when he realised he was alone in there he started to cry.

When we got to the I&J Ocean Exhibit my attention was drawn to the sea turtle, there was something so majestic about this big guy. It is moments like these that I really wish I had a decent camera and photography skills.

There is something seriously so mesmirising and destressing about watching these creatures and judging by the fact that once Camden's excitement had died down somewhat he just stood and stared at the fish as we moved from one exhibit to the next,  he must have been feeling exactly what I was feeling....calm and at peace.

Camden enjoyed the interactive exhibits where he got to touch and feel kelp, anemones and starfish. He of course tried to pick the starfish up out of the water and cringed at the feel of the kelp LOL!

I thought he would enjoy the penguins but no such luck.

He wasn't really interested as he was distracted by the toddler play area and all he wanted to do was colour and play with the other children.

He enjoyed the aquarium for an entire hour and fifteen minutes then he had, had enough and it was time to go. I have noticed that Camden can only last roughly an hour (unless he is watching a movie), then he gets tired or bored and wants to leave. I guess that is ok, he has only just turned two and is an extremely active child so this should be commended.

All you need to know about planning your trip to the aquarium you can find right here.

I look forward to our next adventure with our little guy.

MySugar Family Funday

Sunday we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous Cape Town weather and headed down to My Sugar in Sea Point to try out their gourmet shakes.

We had hoped to sit down and take in the entire experience but they were so busy they could only offer us take-away milkshakes. Probably a good thing as I doubt Camden would've been able to sit still for so long and the place was packed.

There was so much yumminess in one place how does one possibly choose one flavour milkshake when they all sound so awesome. Never-the-less we eventually made up our minds. I had the butterscotch popcorn milkshake and just like the owner said, it tasted like a bit of the movies in a milkshake. It was beyond amazing! Wayne opted for the Super Chocolate and it was just that...SUPER chocolate!

I never had the opportunity to take any photos of the work of art that was our gourmet take-away shakes because of all the hustle and bustle and the amount of people all waiting to order.

I took this image off the Eat Out website because these shakes NEED to be appreciated.

We decided to take a drive to the Promenade and let Camden ride his bike while we walked off the milkshakes we had just had - I think we needed to walk at least 21km to burn maybe half of those shakes off....calories galore!

Cheat Meal right there!

The weather was amazing and it is always a real treat to get out with my boys.

Camden loves the outdoors...

Camden loves making friends...

BUT Camden HATES to leave...can you tell by the look on his face in the last two pictures. I had to tell a white lie and say we had sweets in the car so he wouldn't resist leaving...I am a terrible mom I know lol.

He was not impressed when he realised there were no sweets.

The Promenade is always such a good choice as a family outing and the bonus is that it doesn't cost you a cent. It is free family fun!

Gazoome!

A handful is how I have described Camden since the day he started to walk and he doesn't show any signs of chilling out any time soon.

It has gotten to the point where I have complete strangers commenting on how busy and wild my child is and most times I cringe and wish I could make myself invisible but this is my life, I was blessed with a free spirited child and they say God doesn't give you anything you cannot handle....I've got this!

Anyway, I digress...weekends I have my hands full because Wayne works weekends and I often run out of things to do to keep this busy toddler of mine occupied.

A friend mentioned taking our boys to play at a new Kids Indoor Play centre in Montague Gardens, Gazoome but she was unfortunately sick so I ventured out in the cold with Camden this morning to let him use up some of his energy.

This mommy sure got a literal "run for her money"..

He had fun, played rough like boys do, gave his mother a mild heart attack climbing up the jungle gym, laughed with the friends he made and then threw a complete hissy fit when play time was up and we had to go.

All in a days fun!
