Cake Smash

We had a cake smash scheduled with {Samantha Jackson Photography} the Saturday before Camden's actual birthday but he decided to take a face dive at creche and came home with a bloody nose. We rescheduled for the 17th of July, his actual first birthday and as Murphy would have it, this day Camden refused to nap so off we went to his cake smash shoot with a really tired and miserable Camden.

I was told by the photographer Samantha to not get my hopes up as most babies from her experience, especially the boys don't even smash the cake. Camden was really well behaved at the shoot despite the fact the he was so tired. On a normal day he dislikes his hands being dirty and he really didn't take a liking to the feel of the cake on his hands and when it got on his foot, that was the cake smash shoot over lol! So in the end he didn't smash the cake and go wild as I had hoped but he still had fun and that is what matters the most.

The pictures came out really nice and Samantha was really amazing with Camden. She took a few pre-test shots to get him used to her and then off they went. I sat close by to assist her and of course I was covered in more cake than Camden because at one stage he decided it was cling to mommy time.

We had enough time at the end of the cake smash for Camden to have a bath in the cutest little bath tub prop that Sam had at her studio.

Hope you enjoy the pictures of our little mickey mouse!

Camden is ONE: Mickey Mouse First Birthday Party! {In Pictures}

Camden's first birthday party was a hit! The best party that I could have imagined for our little champ.

Leading up to his birthday I was rather emotional, possibly because not only did we make it an entire year as first time parents but it marked an entire year that we have had this sweet child of ours in our life. He has definitely blessed our lives in so many ways and we are so thankful that we were chosen to be his parents.

We were originally only going to have a few family members over to celebrate Camden turning one because he won't remember much from that day but my mom persuaded us to have a party and I am so glad we did!

I was really stressed that this day would be a flop, that it would be miserable weather (as July is smack in the heart of winter) and then the kiddies would be stuck inside but boy did the Lord bless us with the best day!

The weather was great, the kiddies had such a blast and we are so thankful to each and every person who came to join in the celebration of Camden turning ONE!
